Clay began his career in death care more than fifteen years ago as a Mortuary Affairs Specialist in the U.S. Army, where he served two combat tours returning fallen soldiers home. Upon his honorable separation, he obtained an associate's degree in Mortuary Science, became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for the State of Kansas, and within two years, was named a Branch Manager at a three-location firm. In 2016, Clay and his family returned to his adolescent home in North Carolina, where he obtained a Funeral Service License and became the Assistant Manager for one of the premier funeral service providers in Shelby. Sadly expressing genuine care is rarely the focus of larger firms, and thus, Into Our Kare was conceived, bringing to the world a different kind of Kare.
Raised on a small farm in rural Kansas, Clay was a 2005 Graduate of Cherryville High School. He proudly resides outside downtown Kings Mountain with his wife of more than twelve years, Katherine. In addition to being a licensed funeral director and embalmer, Clay is also an ordained minister and was inducted into the 2021 class of "Who's Who Among American Business Professionals" for his work in funeral service.
