Sally Scruggs

Sally Scruggs, age 63, of Gastonia, NC passed away on June 6, 2026.

Sally was a woman with a strong personality and a story for nearly every occasion. She was known for sharing tales of her adventures, especially her favorite stories about floating the Flint River from one end to the other. Whether every detail was exactly as remembered often became part of the story itself.
She was a devoted fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and could often be found cheering, coaching, and occasionally arguing with the television during football season. Her loyalty to the Bulldogs never wavered. She also had a special affection for her dog, Tuff, a Georgia Bulldog that she was proud to tell anyone about.

Throughout her life, Sally experienced both love and loss. She was preceded in death by her mother, Themla Mosley Mallory and father, Louie Nelson Mallory. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, the father of her children, who passed away in 2000 from pancreatic cancer, as well as her second husband, who passed away in 2022 from liver failure.

She leaves behind her children, Louie and Mallory, who will carry forward the memories, stories, and experiences they shared together. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and other extended family members and friends.

Sally lived life in her own way and on her own terms. Those who knew her will remember her determination, her stories, her passion for Georgia football, and the unique mark she left on the lives she touched.

The family appreciates the thoughts and prayers of all who remember Sally during this time.

A private memorial service will be held in her beloved state of Georgia.
