Darryn Smith Bullock, Lincolnton, NC, November 14, 1987 – September 7, 2026

Darryn Smith Bullock, 38, passed away on September 7, 2026. Born November 14, 1987, in Trenton, New Jersey, Darryn was the kind of person who could walk into a room, meet someone new, and before long have them smiling.

Darryn had the heart of a comedian and the gift of a storyteller. Of course, the longer one of Darryn’s stories went on, the more likely a few extra details found their way into it. That was part of the fun. He loved meeting people, making them laugh, and leaving them feeling a little better than before. Darryn had a way of seeing the good in people, and when he saw something good in you, he wanted everyone else to see it too.

As a child, Darryn played Little League, but he found his real love for sports as a fan. And when it came to football, there was no question where his loyalty belonged. Darryn was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan.

He was also a true “go-getter.” When Darryn set his mind on something, he went after it. He enjoyed drawing, had a love for Jordans, and above all cherished time spent with his children. Being around the people he loved, sharing stories, laughing, and making memories were the things that gave his life its character.

Darryn is survived by his wife, Sydnei Monae Holley; his mother, Sihle “Kay” Bullock; his father, Darryn Turner Smith; and his children, Dayonia Smith, Daryarh Smith, Damear Smith, Daveon Smith, Declan Smith, Harper Smith, Grayson Smith, and Dylan Smith.

He is also survived by his siblings, Antionette Bradley, Brittney Brown, Darina Smith, Tamika Smith, Quinton Bullock, Chasquan Smith, Kadryn Smith, and Zaylen Smith; his aunts, Michelle Ligon and Patricia Ligon; Arthur Bullock Jr.; his cousins, Courtney Nash and Stacy Nash; as well as extended family, friends, and the many people whose lives crossed paths with his.

Darryn was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dortha M. Bullock, and grandfather, Arthur S. Bullock Sr.

Those who knew Darryn will remember the laughter, the stories that somehow got a little better with every telling, his determination, his love for his family, and his ability to find something good in the people around him. Darryn spent a lot of his life putting smiles on other people’s faces, and those smiles are part of what he leaves behind.
